5 Loaves and 2 Fish Restaurant Gourmet Food

5 Loaves & 2 Fish Restaurant is the brainchild of Ms. Dinah Grace M. Miro. She used to observed her mother whenever she cooks in the kitchen then eventually helped her in preparing the family's dinner during her childhood days. She said cooking is her passion. Her interest includes baking and cooking. She's the youngest among the siblings. During special occasions, she would serve home made specialties to her visitors and friends. 

On September 2011, Her Lavosh was awarded as the top choice at the ”Ultimate Taste Test” from among 50 plus Best Food entries at the Mercato Centrale event owned by Anton Diaz of Awesome Planet and RJ Ledesma, a famous wedding host and businessman.

Mrs. Miro said that they encountered a lot of challenges before they finally open up for business.  She actually had two trade names in mind when they decided to register the company to the SEC and DTI , but they were already taken. She thought maybe it was not granted because she did not pray for them to Jesus. So, she prayed for an appropriate name to be granted. So finally in July 2015 , she took the inspiration from the bible from the book of Mark 6:41 Loaves and 2 Fish restaurant. And the rest is, as they say, is history.

It was a sunny afternoon when we arrived at the venue. It is a bit far from my home, but I did agree to come because the PR is a good friend of mine.  He is actually my idol. He is a college professor at Ateneo De Manila, La Salle and a pole and aerial fitness professional Instructor.  Plus he is a PR practitioner and many more. So, who could say no to him, right?

The afternoon event began when the PR introduced the owner of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish, Mrs. Dinah Miro. She told us about her childhood and how she eventually developed her own recipes to make up the diverse menu of 5 Loaves and 2 Fish. 

5 Loaves and 2 Fish homemade dishes from their salpicao, dips, dressings and sauces were all made from scratch using nothing but the very best locally sourced ingredients.

Lavosh ( Luh -vosh) is an Armenian lavash.  It is a thin crisp unleavened flat bread that originated in the Turkish region. Lavash, lavosh, or lahvosh is paper-thin, crispy, tortilla-like flatbread common throughout Armenia, Turkey, and Iran. 5 Loaves and 2 Fish with the talented Mrs. Dinah Miro has come up with various colored Crispy Veggie Lavosh which is a perfect appetizer that can be dip in either tomato and coriander salsa dip, chicken liver , pesto burlee and garlic oil with dulong fish. The orange colored Lavosh was attained because of carrots. The pink or sometimes red Lavosh was because of beets. I am excited because this coming August, 2017 they will come out with the sweet Lavosh, using cacao. Isn't it amazing? Amazing! 

These dips were made with the Filipino palate in mind. So don't worry. You'll like it! One can mix the Lavosh on any or all of the four kinds of dips. I love the liver patee the best.

This perfect appetizer is ideal for sharing between 3 to 6 people. (Php250) per serving.

High 5 Salad– a healthy combination of lettuce leaves, flavorful balsamic vinegar and guava puree blend of pleasant and unique taste. with sundried tomatoes , candied nuts , diced guava , grated parmesan cheese. ( Php 285) per serving

After eating this salad,  I can't help but high five with my blogger friends. Why? Because the sweet and sour flavor of balsamic vinegar and guava puree leaves a unique taste in my palate. I simply love it! 

It has parmesan cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, diced guava fruits served with guava vinaigrette. Mrs. Dinah shared to us that it is her husband's favorite.

Balayan Salad is a combination of green lettuce, chopped mangoes, roasted cashew nuts and fresh tomatoes with kesong puti ( white cheese) and tinapa flakes plus grated parmesan cheese.  This is the newest addition to their menu. The tinapa flakes does not overpower the taste of the salad.

Pork Ribs Barbecue was cooked using a special sauce marinate.  The chef shared that it takes around 4 to 6 hours to cook this particular dish! Imagine that!  No wonder the meat is tender and yummy. It falls off the bone! (Php295) per serving

Beef Salpicao is a must try dish.  Cubes of beef tenderloin baked overload with sliced garlic. Cooked in olive oil and their houseblend seasoning. The meat is tender topped with slices of bird’s eye chilies , banana chilies and comes with rice. ( Php 375 ) – ideal sharing between 2 to 3 people.

Salmon with Four Kinds of Cheese – Salmon fillet , topped with 4 kinds of cheese and topped with melted cheese on a bed of mashed potatoes. (Php 385) per serving.

Lengua with olives and Shiitake Mushrooms– The ox tongue is cooked perfectly with special sauce. I am not fond of Lengua, but this version is really yummy!  It is very tender. Give it a try.

Spaghetti with Chicken Parmesan 
Parmesan crusted chicken fillet, topped with gooey mozzarella and house blend rich tomato sauce. I also like this!  Super yummy! It cost (Php290) per serving

Vongole – This pasta is among the best sellers of the restaurant. It is light but tasty. The clams are fresh. It is sauteed in garlic and extra virgin olive oil with white wine and wedge of lemon.  Served with freshly baked crusty Focacia Bread ( Php299) per serving.

Tablea Cake is oozing with visual appeal! It is topped with              .  They use 100% pure,  organic single origin trinitarian cacao to make this yummy tablea cake.

Pastries and Cakes – The restaurant had a good selection of cakes which can be ordered on per slice basis or as a whole.  The price range for their cakes ranges between Php125 to Php 180 per slice. They are not overly sweet compared to some famous bakeshops. Among their best sellers are the Hazelnut-Cocoa Banana Crepe Cake that features 27 layers of sweet crepe fastened by hazelnut spread and topped with dark chocolate shavings, they also offer various cheesecake based cakes such as pink guava cheesecake, matcha green tea cheesecake.  They also have violet crumble dulce de leche, lemoncito de Manille, Orange Almond, Dulce de leche-Salted Caramel Cake

Tip: I super love their Mokacafee Java Malt Cake <3 I miss it terribly!

Place Overall Rating: 4 stars because it is Instagram worthy and very cozy. The first thing you'll notice when you get inside 5 loaves and 2 fish are the inspirational messages on the wall. My first impression is that the owner is deeply religious. The interior design of this place was done using ingenious materials such as plywood, old wood and recycled table if I am not mistaken. Why only 4 fingers? It took me almost 3 hours and cost me almost Php400 one way to go there so times two equals almost Php800 for my round trip fare. If they have a branch near Makati,  then a week would not pass that I will not eat here.

Food Overall Rating: 4 Stars because everything that was served to us were really yummy. What I love the most is the Vongole. Other dishes that were served to us includes Lengua Estofado, Pork BBQ, Baked Salmon with 4 cheese, Lavosh and the cake slices. They were very generous with their servings. It is good for sharing with family and friends. Why only 4 Stars? Because for me it is on the pricey side.

Service Overall Rating: 4 Stars. The staff are all polite and friendly. Each dish are cooked freshly in the kitchen waiting time will be like 15 minutes or more.
